It’s no secret that, more than ever, college life presents a whirlwind of challenges and transitions for students. Between academic pressures, social adjustments, financial stress, and broader uncertainties, student health and well-being have never been more important—or more complex.
In recent years, colleges and universities have responded with an unprecedented expansion of services dedicated to student support. Yet, despite this progress, many institutions continue to see fragmented strategies, inconsistent outcomes, and rising costs across multiple dimensions of student health and well-being.
One of the most pressing examples – The ongoing need to address student mental health.
Despite some recent improvements, depression rates among college students are still nearly double what they were a decade ago1. This increase occurred even as more resources have been allocated to address mental health, suggesting that there needs to be continued evolution in how we think about improving student health and well-being.
At Wellfleet, we’ve been listening closely to our partners in higher education—and what we’re hearing is clear: While pockets of innovative and transformative work are happening in our field, many traditional health and well-being programs are falling short. They may be well-intentioned, but too often, they operate in silos, fail to reach all students, or don’t reflect the true diversity of student experiences.
That’s why we’re proud to launch Campus Health 360, a new initiative designed to foster holistic, data-informed, and collaborative solutions to student health and well-being.
What Is Campus Health 360?
Campus Health 360 is more than a newsletter. The vision is to develop a constellation of resources for sharing innovative strategies, highlighting impactful partnerships, and building a network of innovators—all with a shared goal: improving the health and well-being of every student on campus.
We believe that when student health is approached holistically—integrating physical, mental, social, and environmental dimensions—everyone benefits. Students thrive, campuses become healthier environments for learning and living, and institutions see improved outcomes and reduced costs.
Campus Health 360 isn’t just for students enrolled in Wellfleet’s student health insurance plans. It’s for all students on all campuses, and for all the professionals who support them.

The need for a coordinated, evidence-based, and student-centered approach to health has never been more urgent.
We’re at a pivotal moment. The post-pandemic landscape has made the gaps in campus health services more visible than ever. Students are asking for support that is accessible, inclusive, and culturally relevant. Staff and faculty are navigating burnout and capacity constraints. Budgets are tightening. And still, expectations continue to rise.
In the face of these challenges, we see tremendous opportunity.
By breaking down silos, integrating services, and learning from each other, we can transform how campuses support the full spectrum of student health and well-being.
Campus Health 360 is our commitment to help lead that transformation—together. This newsletter is only the first step.
We invite you to subscribe, share, and engage. Let’s work together to:
